Skin can Regulate your Blood Pressure

Skin can Regulate your Blood Pressure: When checking the cause of high blood pressure, we only suspect lack of exercise or poor diet, but we never consider lack of sufficient oxygen in the body system response to through the skin and other body organs. Researchers has studied a mice and found that high blood pressure was caused in the mice due to low level of oxygen reaching its skin.

According to a research by prof. Randall Johnson, of the Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience at the University of Cambridge in the U.K., and colleagues, they reported that when there is low level of oxygen supplied to the skin, the blood flowing toward the tissue rises because of the presence of a protein (HIF).

The study also proves that the lack of HIF protein and some other essential proteins associated with hypoxia in the skin will lead to rapid increase in heart beat rate as well as blood pressure level

Dr. Andrew Cowburn, also from the University of Cambridge, said that research findings have also proved that the skin's reaction to low oxygen level has a crucial influence on the cardiovascular system which may increase the risk high blood pressure eventually causing hypertension

With all the above findings by researchers, it is suggested that to reduce the risk of high blood pressure, the Skin must also be considered and taken care of together with good body exercise and a well-balanced diet.
